Ladies in White

Pinks, reds, yellows, purples…
take me to where the ivory unfurls

petals reminiscent of celestial wings,
angel-whispers of the purest things,

stories of strength derived from faith,
and tales of troubles confronted with grace.

Bold colors burst forth in the celebration of spring,
but I find myself frozen, soul keenly listening

to the ladies in white, swaying silently;
they draw me in, they speak of peace,

they still my center, and the serenity seeps
through my pores and seeds in me.

Roots and Blooms

With a single spark
from my wild heart,
I sneakily reseed
a little yellow cheer
and carry on
my solo way,
planting the
little flames
to light the way
back to
love.

So if you see
the floral light,
pass it on
randomly,
be kind
to a stranger,
let’s try
to string
smiles,
no matter
how fleeting,
for the winter is
receding,
and the birds sing
of forgiveness,
of burying,
of remembering,

for in the decay
of leaves,
we can fertilize
the best parts
of memories,
and visit
the rest
at the graveyard
of past seasons;
the reasons
you cling to
that poison
your roots,
leave by the wayside
and mark the route.
Visit respectfully
but do not carry it
with you;
seeds were meant
for detaching,
and rebirthing
where they land
new blooms.

Inextinguishable

Above the clouds,
looking down,
I see the beacon
unable to be buried
beneath the waves
at the “bottom” of
the abyssal sea:

it shines for me,

lighted gem
of hope
at the heart
of the ocean’s soul,

Mother of the light
that has long been
implanted in me.

I recline on the sky-drops,
and the automatic echo
from my chest begins to flicker
its internal glow.

I Wear the Gold

img_8746-1

I wear the gold of the beauty-brushed coast
as dawn coats us both with the light of hope;

I feel it bleeding into my soul.

A new day is birthed into the waves,
a new year on a calendar man-made;

timelessness prevails in the ocean’s refrain.

The gold is neither molten nor cold;
it warms to life the dreams put on hold,

and for anointment, I offer the ones held close.

Seashells keeping infinite secrets
glisten silently still yet reaching;

maybe there is a message meant for me…

The gold scatters away as the day awakes,
but I still glow from being soaked in those celestial rays;

it resides inside of me, an inextinguishable flame.

Just Another Monday Morning

Just another Monday morning

getting out of the car at work,

just another opportunity

to fine-tune my attitude

at the week’s start,

to remember how every sparkle

in the eyes

of my masked face

can make a world of a difference

when it graces

someone’s day.

The lights above

the stadium’s

remind me

of the potential

outlook change

emitted from

soul-sourced

natural, genuine

rays.

Just another Monday morning

gifted in divine splendor,

another opportunity

to use my gifts

and personality

to make a difference

for the better.

Colliding Light

This song came up on my playlist as I was beginning my yard work after my first day back to my classroom when this small wildflower caught my eye. When you are a poet-photographer-believer-passionate teacher, such a thing can become life changing, lol. I was so moved by the way the sinking sun was highlighting the flower. After looking like a fool in my front yard (as usual) photographing it, I hit replay on the song while I mowed the lawn, thinking about my own personal journey. I knew I would need to stay up a little past bedtime to write about it.

First of all, good gracious what an absolutely beautiful and inspiring song! I had heard of the artist, but not that song. If you know anything about me, you know I have a thing for wildflowers. I just see such stories in them, even (especially?) in the “weeds.” So often underfoot and overlooked, I am drawn in to observe them up close; I like to portray them as majestically as possible, to showcase their extreme beauty.

I’ll let the poetry (and unedited images) take over from here…

“Colliding Light”

Little yellow wildflower,
it is your turn to shine,
can’t tell if the beams
are coming down as blessings
from heaven or bursting
forth from your soul inside.

Perhaps the two are being joined

since you finally put fear aside
and went after the dreams
you for too long denied

yourself. Yourself… your self…
So much time
you spent focusing on everyone
else…

Who are you? You’ve always known,
simply forgotten, buried too many
of your needs, kept them beneath
with doubt drought,

but need and dream seeds
eventually sprout;
there is no holding them
down.

You are in bloom,
your joy bursting,
and the Son
shines down
in happiness.

Yes, a mix
of bliss and blessings
I simultaneously see
when self-love and -care
are witnessed by
His Majesty.

Both ways,
the rays
reach…
and meet,
the radiance
of the heart
outwardly seen.

Silent Awakening

In the silence,

blooms slowly awaken

from deep sleep,

each petal

fading

in to life,

colored gradually

by individual rays

of soft, natural light.

I wait in line.

The peace

already

activating me

inside,

a hymnal hum

with lost lyrics

returning to mind.

Here comes my

light…

I am ready.

Old me,

goodbye.

Evolution of soul

transforms me,

an elevation

to a higher

height.
