Off Trail

At the crossroads
again,
so I thought,
the familiar loop trail
I’ve been traversing upon,

the path that intersects
with a hopeful other,
but I’ve explored both
and all the countless others,

round and round,
and though the scenery is nice,
I’ve been looking for something
different all of my life,

not sure what,
but I’ve always known
I’d know when I stumbled upon
the right way home,

and at this intersection
of my natural journey,
I pause, I linger, I feel
a calling.

I choose neither path.
I follow my heart,
follow the rays
between the trees
that lead me
to where
you
are.
