Upon the Tide

Upon the tide,

you found the bottle

with the peculiar chip,

and with tender hands

unrolled the message

from my sinking ship

I sent.

The journey

of a familiar bottle

at my sandy feet

came to a rest one day,

carrying back my withered heart,

now patched,

and a label of Return to Sender, faded.

With shaky hands,

I unrolled the message

and rubbed the new chip

that was added to the glass,

and my heart inflated,

full capacity exceeded

the day upon the horizon, I finally saw

your mast.
