Into Dreams

Into dreams,

I drift,

sailing away

into my imagination.

The water transports me

as my mind becomes fixated

on swirling colors,

abstract and bright,

head in the clouds,

I raise the sail,

gleaming white,

against the blue sky

like wings that take me

into flight,

as I skim across

the ripples of my mind.

Time passes,

but no one knows I’m missing,

found by the mermaids

and ocean king.

After landing

my boat

back on the bay,

my eyes refocus

on the rainy window pane,

the music softly playing still,

as I close my eyes

to leave again for a while

and drift into a light

afternoon nap

and board the boat

once again;

this time,

a handsome sailor

extends a hand

as the sun begins

to set…
