Simple Pleasures

His hair, white,

hers in ribbons,

her sweet face

calm and trusting,

innocent bliss,

his friendly face

wrinkled with experience,

wrinkles of time

send me through

a nostalgic tesseract…

generations of

life’s relations,

fictitious and realistic,

flash before my mind

and seems to magically

calm my core…

My visible smile lasts

for the duration of the block,

but stays in my mind’s eye

and nourishes my heart:

the grandpa pushing his

precious granddaughter

on the tree swing

symbolizes life’s simplest

and truest treasures

and reminds me that

life is beautiful.
